How We Decide What Replaced a Shoe
A current shoe can be similar without being a true successor. We label the relationship so you know how strong the connection really is.
Direct Replacement
The manufacturer explicitly moved the old model into a named successor line or clearly documented the transition.
Closest Current Equivalent
No official one-to-one replacement exists, but a current shoe fills a very similar role in fit, cushioning, support or intended use.
No Direct Replacement
The original concept ended without a clear successor. In that case, we explain the best current alternatives instead of inventing a lineage.
Why Models Disappear
A New Name Does Not Always Mean a New Idea
Brands simplify lineups, reorganize support and neutral shoes, introduce new cushioning platforms and sometimes rename models so their place in a family is easier to understand. Other shoes simply reach the end of the line.
Should you buy old stock?
Old stock can make sense when you know the exact fit you want, but very old running shoes deserve caution. Foam, rubber, adhesives and upper materials can age in storage even when the shoe has never been worn. For regular running, the current successor is usually the more practical starting point because it is easier to replace and is supported by the manufacturer's current lineup.
