Dansko built its reputation on supportive clogs worn by nurses, chefs, teachers and other people who spend much of the day on their feet. But buying Danskos is not as simple as choosing the most famous clog. The Professional, XP 2.0, Kaci and Paisley feel very different underfoot and are designed for different jobs.

The Dansko Professional is still the shoe most people picture when they hear the name Dansko. It is the company’s flagship clog, and its unusual fit is part of the design.

Your heel is supposed to move slightly up and down as you walk. That does not automatically mean the shoe is too large. Dansko XP 2.0: Best for Nurses and Long Work Shifts

The Dansko XP 2.0 is the Dansko we would choose for more demanding workplaces.

It keeps much of the shape and support that made the Professional famous but makes several useful changes. The midsole uses lightweight EVA, which makes the shoe feel less dense underfoot. The removable footbed combines dual-density cushioning, Dansko Natural Arch support and memory foam. That gives the XP 2.0 a softer feel than the Professional.

More importantly for nurses, chefs and hospitality workers, the XP 2.0 uses a slip-resistant rubber outsole designed for dry, wet and oily-wet surfaces.

The removable footbed is another major advantage. If you have a custom orthotic that fits properly inside the shoe, you can remove the factory insert rather than stacking one insole on top of another.

What Is the APMA Seal on Dansko Shoes?

Many Dansko shoes have received the American Podiatric Medical Association Seal of Acceptance. The program evaluates footwear and other products to determine whether they promote foot health.

The Professional and XP 2.0 are among the Dansko styles currently included in the company’s APMA-accepted footwear collection.
